"CHRISTMAS IN THE CASTLE"
CHRISTMAS COLOURS,
SHAPES, SOUNDS, FLAVOURS AND AROMAS

The Castle of Száraz-Rudnyánszky, which is one of the most beautiful jewels of the late-baroque architecture, is awaiting its visitors in a festive appearance. This is the seventh occasion on which the successful event entitled "Christmas in the Castle" - Christmassy colours, shapes, sounds, flavours and aromas is presented, open also in the Advent season and during Christmas time, for young and old.

The event series "Christmas in the Castle" is in the capital's cultural life unique in terms of place and exhibition as well as in terms of related events.

EXHIBITION:

  • Christmas trees decorated by arts-and-crafts artists
The permanent exhibition in the castle, which is indeed unique worldwide, is comprising five hundred years of living environment from the Gothic to the Biedermeier. The 28 fir trees presented in the interior of the exhibition were conjured into Christmas trees by more than 40 excellent contemporary Hungarian arts-and-crafts artists (textile and glass designers, ceramicists, goldsmiths, costume designers). The living related objects, which are evocating the time between the 14th and 19th century, and the unique trimmings, made by the arts-and-crafts artists, create a special atmosphere within the baroque castle. The unique and for this event prepared Christmas tree trimmings and the characteristics of the castle enlighten together the festivity, and while seeing and admiring the decorative fir trees everybody is getting able to immerse for a moment into the world of masterly finished materials, beautiful shapes and admirable colours.
